French Press Gear Guide

French Press Gear Guide

The true origins of the french press remain elusive. Because of its name people assume it was invented in France and that may be true however the first patent for the press was registered in Italy by Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta.

Standard Ratio: 1:12 - 1:15

Grind Setting: Coarse - Coffee grounds should be generally the size of Sea Salt

What to look for

This one is pretty straight forward, French press pots are available in most stores that carry any form of coffee brewing gear. Its hard to go wrong here. Some things to look for however which are niceties are insulated french press pots which will help keep your coffee nice a hot for longer periods. Make sure the mesh filter is wide and firm enough that it extend around the entire inner part of the pot, you dont want any grounds to escape into your drink. Aside from that, you probably cant go wrong with nearly any french press pot. Dont forget to check out our brew guide for french press for tips on how to brew.
